On 23 July 2019, Consul-General KritTankanaratof Thailand paid a courtesy call on Mayor Ichiro Matsui of Osaka City at the Osaka City Hall to introduce himself on the occasion of assumption of duty in Osaka.
Since 1989, Osaka shares relations with Bangkok in the form of Business Partner Cities. Since then, there has beenregular economic exchanges between the two cities. On 26 July 2019, a delegation of Thai businessmen attended the Thai Style Eco Product Business Meeting 2019 in Osaka and from 4 – 7 September 2019, a delegation of Osaka businessmen will attend the Food Hotel Thailand 2019 event in Bangkok. 
In line with Japanese national policy, Osaka welcomes foreign labourers and is stepping up its safety measures and other privileges to accomodate foreign labourers to be equivalent to that of Japanese labourers. In August 2019, International Manpower Development Organization will host a seminar on Thai labour in Osaka with the view to help attract Thai labourers into the country.
