Consul-General of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Osaka Governor

On 23 July 2019, Consul-General KritTankanarat of Thailand paid a courtesy call on Governor Hirofumi Yoshimura of Osaka Prefecture at the Osaka Prefectural Government Office to introduce himself on the occasion of assumption of duty in Osaka. In this regard, Consul-General Krit congratulated the Governor for the accomplishments in hosting the G20 Summit from 28-29 June 2019, UNESCO’s registration of the DaisenryoKofun Tomb as World Heritage site and Osaka in hosting the World Expo 2025 under the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”, making Osaka more dynamic .
On this occasion, both sides exchanged views on the (1) strengthening of Thai-Japanese relations, especially between Osaka and Thailand (2) the boosting of people-to-people relations, given approximately 320,000 Thai tourists visit Osaka per year, around 1.5 million Japanese tourists visit Thailand annually and approximately 50 flights/week between Osaka and Thailand and (3) economic cooperation with Osaka’s expertise in clean energy and medical devices, which are areas of Thai interest.
