Memorial Service to pay tribute to His Majesty the late King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Thailand 23 October 2019

On 23 October 2019, Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand to Osaka, on behalf of the Thai Ambassador to Japan, presided over the Memorial Service to pay tribute to His Majesty the late King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) of Thailand at Nittaiji Temple, Nagoya City, Aichi Prefecture. More than 30 people attended this ceremony, including the Consul-General of Thailand to Fukuoka, officers from the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka and Fukuoka, Team Thailand in Japan, Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Nagoya, as well as Thai and Japanese living in Japan. On this occasion, a religious ceremony was also observed.
Nittaiji Temple (Japan-Thailand temple) was built in 1904 to enshrine Lord Buddha’s relics from Thailand which was presented to Japan by His Majesty the late King Chulalongkorn. In 1987, a monument was built within the temple’s compound in honour and remembrance of His Majesty the late King Chulalongkorn.
