On 6 August 2020, Mr. Shigeyo Kimura, President of the Japan-Thailand Education Exchange Society paid a courtesy call on Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand in Osaka, to report on the Society’s activities in the past year, which include the organization of the Japan-Thailand Cultural Fair in Kyoto, the exchange of youth visits between the two countries and field trips for members of the Society as well as Thai students and Thai community in Kyoto. On this occasion, the Consul-General expressed thanks and appreciation to the Society for helping to strengthen Thai-Japan relations, especially at the youth and local levels and presented the financial fund of 100,000 yen to support the Society’s activities.

Japan-Thailand Education Exchange Society is a non-profit organization established in 1981 in Kyoto with the aim to promote educational and cultural exchanges between Thailand and Japan. Although the Society is unable to host many annual events this year due to the spread of COVID-19, it has plans to scale down and diversify activities such as the organization of musical exchange and ecotourism excursions.
