the activities of Friends of Thailand in Japan
----------------------------
Amidst the prevalence and intensity of COVID-19, the task of the Friends of Thailand in Japan to help publicize Thailand and strengthen Thai-Japanese relations remains so that in the post-COVID-19 era, relations between the two countries will continue and yield fruitful results. In view of the importance of the Friends of Thailand network, their sustainability and continuous efforts in organizing various Thai related activities, Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand to Osaka, provides financial support to them during July - August 2021.
In the Kansai region in Western Japan, there exist many Friends of Thailand which are groups of Japanese people who love and admire Thailand and organize activities to promote Thailand and help strengthen Thai-Japanese relations. Among them are (1) Japan-Thailand Education Exchange Society which promotes educational and cultural youth exchanges between Thailand and Japan (2) Thai Club of Japan which organizes seminar on Thailand and translates Thai historical books into Japanese and (3) Hakuzo-kai or the association of Thai Studies Major alumni of Osaka University which organizes alumni gatherings. The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Osaka admires the roles of these organizations in promoting Thainess in Japan, their abilities to reach out to various Japanese groups and their influence in increasing the number of Friends of Thailand in Japan and hope that the said fund will be a part in strengthening the linkage between Thailand and Japan at the people-to-people level.
