On 7 August 2020, Professor Emeritus Osamu Akagi, President of the Thai Club of Japan, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Krit Tankanarat, Consul-General of Thailand in Osaka, to report on the Club’s activities in the past year which ranged from the annual seminar on Thailand, the exchange with Thai schools in Lampang province and the translation of Thai historical books. On this occasion, the Consul-General commended the Club for helping to promote better understanding about Thailand and Japan as well as presented the financial support of 100,000 yen to support the Club’s activities.
Thai Club of Japan was established in 1990 as a network association of individuals who are “Friends of Thailand”. On the occasion of the Club’s 30th anniversary this year, a seminar on Thai and Japanese history is scheduled to be held but was postponed due to the spread of COVID-19.
